In their new film work “The Feeling Sonnets (Transitional Object)” (2024), the Amsterdam-based artist collective Metahaven interpret Eugene Ostashevsky's poetry collection “The Feeling Sonnets” (2022). Their visually striking essay follows the protagonist ONE in a discovery of Ostashevsky’s verse, in which words, idioms, sentences and poetic conventions are broken down and defamiliarized from historical contexts. Notions of indeterminacy and transition that are central to the film are further expressed by music from composer inti figgis-vizueta. The film builds on questions about Artificial Intelligence and language that were addressed at the HALLE 14 symposium “Is Language Wordless?” in March 2024.
